UK-এ বড় হওয়া বাংলাদেশিদের জীবনটা একটু আলাদা।

বাইরে একরকম,
বাসার ভিতরে আরেকরকম।

স্কুলে ইংরেজি,
বাসায় বাংলা।

বন্ধুদের সাথে আলাদা personality,
আর আম্মুর সামনে একদম different version 😅

অনেক কিছু আছে যেগুলো শুধু British Bangladeshis-রাই relate করতে পারবে।

“বাইরে যাইলে জ্যাকেট পরো!”

বাইরে ১২ ডিগ্রি হলেও আম্মুর কাছে সেটা প্রায় Antarctica।

“ঠান্ডা লাগবো!”
“কাশি হইবো!”
“জ্যাকেট কই?”

এই dialogue ছাড়া UK-তে কোনো বাংলাদেশি বড় হয় নাই মনে হয় 😭

বাসায় বাংলা, বাইরে English

বাসায়:
“ভাত খাইছো?”

বাইরে:
“Yeah bro I’m coming now.”

এই language switching আমাদের daily life-এর অংশ।

অনেকেই pure Bangla বলতে struggle করে,
আবার parents-এর সামনে পুরো English বললেও সমস্যা 😅

Eid Morning Energy Hits Different

নতুন জামা।
আতর।
সেমাইয়ের গন্ধ।
সকালে family ছবি।
তারপর relatives tour শুরু।

UK-তে থেকেও Eid-এর feeling বাংলাদেশিদের জন্য একদম আলাদা emotional ব্যাপার।

Plastic Cover দেওয়া Sofa 😭

এইটা legendary।

কেউ explain করতে পারবে না কেন sofa-এর উপর plastic cover থাকতো…

কিন্তু somehow সব Bangladeshi বাসাতেই ছিল 😭

“Doctor না Engineer?”

অনেক British Bangladeshi young people এই pressure relate করতে পারবে।

Career choice নিয়ে family expectation আমাদের culture-এর বড় অংশ।

যদিও এখন situation অনেক change হচ্ছে,
তবুও এই কথাগুলো এখনও common।

Bengali Weddings = Full Community Event

বিয়ে মানে শুধু wedding না।

এটা পুরো community festival 😭

• ৩ দিনের অনুষ্ঠান
• matching dresses
• unlimited ছবি
• biryani discussions
• random aunties asking life questions

সবাই somehow involved 😅

জুমার নামাজ শেষে নিজের জুতা খুঁজে পাওয়া একটা skill 😭

British না Bangladeshi?

সত্যি বলতে বেশিরভাগ British Bangladeshis দুইটা identity-ই carry করে।

আমরা:

• British culture-এ বড় হয়েছি
• কিন্তু Bangladeshi roots-ও deeply connected

এই balance-টাই আমাদের unique করে।

শেষ কথা

British Bangladeshi হিসেবে বড় হওয়া মানে দুইটা culture-এর মাঝে সুন্দর একটা journey।

কিছু struggle আছে,
কিছু pressure আছে,
কিন্তু অনেক সুন্দর memories-ও আছে যেগুলো আমাদের identity তৈরি করে।

আর honestly…
চা ছাড়া discussion শেষ হয় না ☕😅
